Veterinarians

Dr. Stephen Wehrmann
Practice Owner / Veterinarian

Stephen Wehrmann

Dr. Wehrmann graduated from the University of Hawaii with a degree in Zoology and then went on to earn his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri . He has written many articles regarding companion animal care that have appeared in regional and national publications, and has also lectured at veterinary meetings and numerous companion pet organizations. Dr. Wehrmann has also hosted a national call in radio program and written a book about dogs. Dr. Wehrmann has a special interest in surgery and avian medicine. He has provided quality, compassionate pet care for dogs, cats, and birds for many years  at Bayshore Animal Hospital and has served as president for both the Pinellas Animal Foundation and the St. Petersburg Emergency Clinic. 

Dr. Steven Sanders
Practice Owner / Veterinarian

Steven Sanders

Dr. Sanders received his Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology in 1986. He then received his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from The University of Maryland in 1990 and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Tuskegee University in 1996. He also belongs to the Honor Society of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Sanders started working at Bayshore in 1996 and has been an owner since 2001. He is also accredited through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.

Dr. Maria Passarelli
Veterinarian

Maria  Passarelli

Dr. Maria Passarelli is from Hanover, PA – home of such famous snack food names as Utz potato chips and Snyder’s pretzels. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Passarelli completed an internship in the Exotics department at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston, TX.  She moved to St. Petersburg, FL to continue her career in veterinary medicine, and hopefully to one day specialize in avian medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. Passarelli enjoys the outdoor activities of sunny Florida, including kayaking, hiking, and birdwatching. She also enjoys playing music, singing, and ballroom dancing in her spare time. Her feathered family includes an adorable and well-traveled budgie named Dandelion.

Kimberly, CVT
Practice Administration

Kimberly, CVT

Kimberly received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of South Florida and an Associate Science in Veterinary Technology from St Petersburg College. She has worked in the veterinary industry for 20 years working in small animal hospitals as a Certified Veterinary Technican and in animal health distribution with a veterinary pharmaceutical company for 12 years. Kimberly is certified in laser therapy and Fear Free Certified.  She has volunteered with World Vets traveling to Peru and Honduras to help with the pet population and communities.  In her spare time she enjoys gardening, riding horses at the state parks ,and she has completed  200 Registered Yoga Teacher certification.

Susie
Client Care Specialist

Susie

Susie has always had pets in her life. She loves outdoor activities including long walks, biking, and hiking. Susie enjoys spending time with her family and volunteers with her community and church. Her family includes a husband, daughter, a dog and a cat. Her pet’s names are Snickers and Sparticus.

Susie cares deeply for clients and their pets at Bayshore Animal Hospital. She will always go above and beyond to make them feel at home. 

Susie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from The University of the South, in Sewanee, TN. 
 

Lynn
Client Care Specialist

Lynn

Lynn has always had an interest in a variety of pets as well as different organizations. These include training and search and rescue. She has a number of pets in her family. These include two dogs, Bravo and Magnum and two rabbits named Brambles and Magic. She also has two birds, Timmy and Dickens.

Lynn will always try and help clients with a variety of pets and provide them with the information that they need to care for them. She has a very special interest in surgery and emergency medicine. Lynn has completed first responder certification through DART (Disaster Animal Response Team) within the state of Florida.

Vivian

Vivian has been with Bayshore Animal Hospital since June of 2020 and is currently enrolled at St. Petersburg College pursuing her associates degree in Veterinary Technology. She is also soon to be applying to the Veterinary Technology program at St. Petersburg College. Vivian aspires to be a veterinarian technician herself and has a love for all animals.

She lives with her boyfriend and their cat, Kevin. In her free time, she enjoys spending outdoors walking, playing video games, and spending time with her friends and family.

Glenda
Certified Veterinary Technician

Glenda

Glenda has always been passionate about animals. Having horses for many years, she enjoys riding and time outdoors. Glenda loves to spend time with family including her husband, two daughters, and of course their dogs, Gunner and Maddie. 

Glenda is a highly trained nurse. She has a special interest in surgical nursing and critical care. Glenda is also an advocate for pet dental care and is very skilled in dental radiology and cleaning procedures. She holds herself, and the Bayshore team to the highest of standards with patient care.

Glenda is a Certified Veterinary Technician and has an Associate in Science degree from St. Petersburg College. 
 

Chantal
Certified Veterinary Technician

Chantal

From a very young age, Chantal has cared for the health and welfare of animals. Chantal has a Labrador mix named Milo and a cat named Salem.
Chantal has a special interest in animal behavior and pet owner education.
Chantal enjoys spending time outdoors walking, bike riding, and going to the beach.
Chantal received her Associate in Science degree in Veterinary Technology from Hillsborough Community College.
 

Kayla
Veterinary Assistant

Kayla


Kayla loves working with animals and has always had an interest in biology. Other interests include the beach and playing beach volleyball on a beautiful day. Her pets include two cats named Oliver and Crash.

Kayla graduated from the University of South Florida with Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  She dreams of someday becoming a veterinarian.
 

Savannah
Veterinary Assistant

Savannah

Savannah has always been interested in learning about animal behaviors. She spends a lot of time reading and studying the behaviors of a variety of animals. She also enjoys watching animal videos and playing video games. Her pet family includes two dogs, Lucy and Edward and two cats, Harley and Smudges.

Savannah is presently attending the Veterinary Technology program at St. Petersburg College.
 

Taylor
Lead Animal Care Attendant & Veterinary Assistant

Taylor

Taylor grew up in Michigan and she was excited to join the Bayshore  team because of her desire to learn more about exotics.  She currently has 3 snakes.  A Diamond/Jungle/Jaguar Carpet Python named Dexter, a 6 ft Red Tail Boa named Rain and a Dumeril Boa named Khaleesi.  Her hobbies include teaching Fresh Meat skaters at the Deadly Rival Roller Derby in St Petersburg.
